Our Holiday in Lowestoft (and a Trip to Southwold)
We recently enjoyed a lovely, laid-back holiday down in Lowestoft. It’s a great spot if you’re after some peace and quiet by the sea — the beaches are wonderfully calm, perfect for slow strolls and just taking in that fresh seaside air without the usual crowds.
While we spent most of our time soaking up the Lowestoft vibe, we couldn’t resist a little day trip to nearby Southwold. The pier there is just the kind of classic British seaside spot you dream of — full of charm, history, and great views over the water. It’s a brilliant place to wander around, grab a snack, and soak up that proper old-school seaside feel.
Back at the family bungalow, we had the company of Catto, the family cat. She’s quite the character, and even though she stayed put in the bungalow rather than joining us on our excursions, her presence really made the place feel homely. We loved watching her settle in, gazing out the windows, and generally keeping an eye on everything.
One of the more unusual local sights we came across was at the church in nearby Pakefield, where a little flock of sheep were happily grazing on the church grounds. It’s not every day you spot sheep wandering around a churchyard, and it definitely added a touch of countryside charm to our seaside holiday.
All in all, it was a perfect mix of seaside calm, little adventures, and those quiet moments that make a holiday special. We came back feeling refreshed and already looking forward to our next trip down to the Suffolk coast!
